Frequently
Asked Questions About Mepiform |
|
| How Does it Work? Topical silicone has empirically been shown to have a positive impact on hypertrophic and keloid scars. It may take from 3 months up to a year or more to improve an old scar, depending upon the condition of the scar tissue. How Long Should Mepiform be Worn? We recommend that patients wear Mepiform throughout the entire day, except for time needed to wash and dry the scar area. After washing, the same piece of Mepiform may be reapplied to the scar. Mepiform can be worn as long as it retains its adherent properties; anywhere from 3 to 7 days or longer depending on the location of the scar and how well the patient takes care of the dressing. What Makes Mepiform Different from Other Products? Mepiform is much thinner and thus more
comfortable for patients to wear than many other dressings. It is self-adherent so it does
not need to be held in place with tape or other fixation devices. It is extremely flexible
and easy to cut, making it perfect for use on awkward areas of the body. Additionally, it
can be used with compression therapy or garments. |
