How to use Products:

Mepitel® Non-adherent wound contact layer that can be used over open, painful lesions/wounds to protect as well as prevent both trauma and pain associated with dressing changes.

How Mepitel Works:

Mepitel, with the patented Safetac technology, will adhere very gently to dry surrounding intact skin but will not dry out and stick to moist wounds.

Mepitel can be left in place for several days, depending on the condition of the wound. Mepitel has a porous structure, therefore topical ointments may be applied through the dressing and gentle wound irrigation may occur with the dressing in place. Also, wound drainage can easily pass through to an outer absorbent dressing.  Since Mepitel prevents the outer dressing from sticking to the wound, there will be less trauma and pain during dressing changes. This results in less discomfort for the patient, which in turn ensures undisturbed wound healing.

How to Use Mepitel:

Step 1 - Gently cleanse the wound area and carefully dry the surrounding intact skin. Remove the release film. (Note: to avoid sticking when handling Mepitel once the backing has been removed, moisten gloves with saline or water)

Step 2 - Apply Mepitel to the wound overlapping dry skin by at least one centimeter.

Step 3 - Apply outer absorbent dressing.

Step 4 - Change Mepitel as clinically indicated. Mepitel will not dry out, so it may be left in place for several days.

Mepilex® Self-adherent absorbent foam dressing

How Mepilex Works:

Mepilex absorbs exudates effectively and minimizes the risk of peri-wound skin deterioration. The dressing helps maintain a moist wound environment for optimal wound healing while absorbing excess exudates. The selective micro-adherent properties (Safetac® layer) of Mepilex allow it to be changed without causing additional pain to the patient, or trauma to the wound and surrounding skin.

How to Use Mepilex:

Step 1 - Clean the wound area. Remove the release film.

Step 2 - Mepilex should overlap the surrounding skin by at least 2 centimeters.     Apply adherent side of the dressing to the wound. Do not stretch.

Step 3 - Apply non-adherent dressing holder (i.e. mesh net), if additional fixation is required.

Mepilex® Border Self-adherent absorbent foam dressing

Note: Mepilex Border has a slightly greater ‘tack’ (adherence) than the Mepitel and Mepilex. Therefore, it may not be appropriate for skin that is extremely sensitive/fragile.

How Mepilex Border Works:

Mepilex Border absorbs exudates effectively and minimizes the risk of peri-wound skin maceration and erosion. The dressing helps to maintain a moist wound environment for optimal wound healing. The safetac properties allow the dressing to be changed without causing additional pain to the patient, or trauma to the wound and surrounding skin.

How to Use Mepilex Border:

Step 1 - Gently cleanse the wound area assuring the surrounding skin is dry. Remove the release film.

Step 2 - Apply the adherent of the dressing to the wound overlapping onto the surrounding skin. Do not stretch.

Step 3 - Mepilex Border may be left in place 5-7 days, depending on clinical judgment.

Note: Wounds with clinical infection or those at high risk for infection may require more frequent dressing changes in conjunction with appropriate topical/oral antibiotics, as indicated by Physician.
